FAQ
Who is the photographer?
Jess Sheldon, founder of Cityscape Tiles has taken all of the photographs over the last 15 years.
What material are the coasters made of?
The coasters are made from ceramic tile.
Do the coasters absorb moisture?
The coasters do not absorb moisture, however our proprietary process encourages liquids to bead-up on your coasters surface, making the coasters easy to clean and keeping the image intact.
How is the image put on the surface?
There is actual photograph adhered to the ceramic tile. Then using a combination of our proprietary inks and finishing process a glaze is put over the top of each image to seal the photograph to the ceramic tile. This makes the image 100% waterproof, heat and cold resistant.
How do you clean the tiles?
The best method for cleaning is with a damp soft sponge or cloth. Please do not use any abrasive cleaners or pads, this will scratch the image. A tiny spritz of a gentle glass cleaner such as Windex will also clean them right up. They are not dishwasher safe.
Can you purchase the tiles without backs?
All of our tiles can be purchased with no backing, just specify this on your order.
What is a "scratch and dent" tile/coaster?
A "scratch and dent" tile is a tile/coaster that has a slight imperfection. All of the tiles/coasters are made 100% by hand, that being said, sometimes we make minor mistakes and we sell these tiles/coasters at a discounted rate. They do not come with cork backing so that we are able to distinguish our mistakes.
Can I purchase cork backings for the "scratch and dent" tiles/coasters?
Yes, they are $1 each.
Can the tiles be used for a backsplash?
Yes, our tiles make beautiful backsplashes for kitchens and bathrooms (check out our Instagram and Facebook for pictures). Simply order with no backs and mount to the wall with a construction adhesive.
Do you offer customs and what are the minimums?
Yes, we offer custom work. Our minimum is $100 and we generally need a lead time of 2-4 weeks. Please inquire with us at cityscapetiles@gmail.com
